Spikker Specials’ strict quality control: A look behind the scenes

The moment the materials arrive at our facility, the first steps in quality control are taken. All materials undergo a strict inspection. We check, among other things, the dimensions, the chemical composition, and the delivery condition of the steel. We also test the mechanical and physical properties such as tensile strength and hardness.
The right materials
Advanced equipment such as spark optical emission spectrometers and X-ray analyzers plays a crucial role in this. These tools enable us to perform a detailed spectral analysis, which is essential to verify that the material matches what was ordered and required. This way, we can be sure we start the production process with the right materials.
Continuous quality checks
Production employees are personally responsible for their part of the work and therefore for the quality as well. That’s why they have various measuring instruments such as surface plates, calipers, micrometers, and roughness testers. These instruments are used to carry out continuous checks throughout the entire production process on flatness, geometry, and other critical parameters. This ensures that every product meets the strict requirements set out in the technical drawings.
Automated processes and spot checks
Many of our machines are equipped with automated systems that help save time and reduce human error. After production, our inspection room carries out spot checks or full inspections to ensure that even the smallest tolerances are maintained accurately. These tests are essential because some tolerances can only be assessed using specialized measuring machines.
Packaging and a customer-focused approach
The inspection doesn’t end with production; packaging also plays a crucial role. Our engineering/drawing office works closely with the logistics team to ensure that each product is packaged in a way that not only protects it, but is also tailored to the customer’s specific needs.
